Office
Architecture is also defined by how it is made. The approach, the team, the footprint.
About
Drawing on a way of reading place and context, Baraka has been based in Kuzguncuk since 2009, working across a wide range of scales: from housing to hotels, from education to public buildings and places of worship.
From a small interior to a public building, every project is met with the same attention and the same questions. The Tokad-i Hayreddin Complex, Voyage Torba, Çubuklu 28 and Maxx Royal Kemer are among the works born of these questions.
Recognised with Turkey’s Young Architect Award in 2014, the office was named among Europe’s leading young architects on the Europe 40 Under 40 list in 2016/2017. A collaboration with Switzerland-based Dolmus Architekten, ongoing since 2009, forms part of its international work.
The founding partners maintain an ongoing link with academia as speakers and workshop leaders at YTÜ, Osmangazi, Anadolu and Bilgi universities. This work on architectural education is closely intertwined with the office’s intellectual output.
