Antalya Archaeological Museum

Antalya Archaeology Museum, bird's-eye view of the fragmented museum buildings set within a wooded site

In this museum the work comes first; the architecture follows its lead.

Contrary to the classic idea of a museum, it adopts an architecture born not from form, but from content.

Each unit takes shape according to the nature of what it holds: large sculptures need wide spans, while fragile objects are placed in narrow, sheltered spaces. Some seek light, others shade. Some stories stay close to the ground, others want to rise.

In this sense, the architecture does not give shape; it takes shape, makes room and steps back.
